Shania Twain
I’ve long had a soft spot for Shania Twain, I must say. I very much hope she would approve of my portrait, however, I’ve distinct memory of her being quite difficult to please:
Cracking tune, though.

Lol, I think you’d be the one to impress her once and for all Jay! ; )

Thanks so much, Geke – I kinda hope she’d be the opposite, then she might break into this song 😉

This is awesome!! Looks fantastic! I’m a total Shania Twain fan!! And now, of course, you’ve put that song in my head for the night! 😊

Well, I knew you had taste, Charles. And I can only say ‘mwahaha, mission accomplished’ to putting the song in your head – it’s so catchy!

Haha…so I’m Charles now? I’ve really done something bad then. 😳lol

Well, I trust you’ve behaved impeccably! Ha, I don’t even know what determines Charlie/Charles anymore. I seem to get to that point with every Charlie I befriend.

What?! I’m just one of your many Charlies? 😳 And here I thought I was special!

Aww, well, you’re the only Charlie in my life at the moment. My grandfather is Charles (though for some reason everyone calls him John).
You are very special Charlie (pats head).

Lol… Actually my given name is John Charles but I’ve never used either! 😉

Ha! Hi, John!
John isn’t even in his name anywhere – I don’t know how it came about. Strange indeed.

It doesn’t appear anywhere for me now either, all my IDs just have J. Charles on them. Hehe

I really don’t know anything about her except that she’s Canadian (at least I think she is). Great portrait, though.

She is indeed Canadian! I can’t claim to be a superfan, but I do remember her well from her heyday in the late 90s – lots of catchy tunes!

I think I only know one song of hers. We don’t listen to a lot of country music and I really only like Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and Lyle Lovett the best. 🙂

I’m not that big on the genre either, though Dolly Parton is a bit of a guilty pleasure. Tell nobody! 😉

Shania is indeed a dangerous lady! Thanks Eli, much appreciated!

Jacob, I like the portrait, but is the placement of the right arm correct?

Both arms (and cutoff of the hands) were a bit of a concern – looking at the reference again … http://www.dbtechno.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Shania-Twain-50.jpg … it does look a little askew (would probably have been better masked if I’d shaded it more carefully). Thanks Graham!

Oh, there’s the photo…she looks different in the photo…so casual and natural…at ease. She kinda reminds me of Kate Beckinsale in that pic.

I had to stop by when I saw her name. Shania Twain is possibly one of two brunettes who claim to be country singers that I adore primarily for looks. Martins McBride being the other. I think Shania is gorgeous. Buuut…at what age is she in the drawing? No offense, but the drawing reminds me more of Amy Lee who sang for Evanescence…when her hair is naturally curly.

Amy Lee? (google) …oh dear. I think the eyes are perhaps a bit ‘sharp’ compared to the reference, which might make her a little less inviting than the (very inviting) photograph.

Your drawing gives Shania a softer, rounder face and gentle eyes sans makeup. The photo–unlike how I am used to seeing her–shows she has a sharper/more angular jaw and sharply bent eyebrows. The eyes might be tricky, too. As I said, this photo you used is not Shania’s common look. For once, she is not about sass; she’s more at peace or looking for company.

Whoa. This is so good. Here eyes seem to be looking right at us, intently watching the world outside the screen. 🙂

Thanks again, Robin – glad you like this! It’s certainly an evocative pose, which made it all the more fun to draw!
