Maze Day

obrien-2
In a relatively short time here I’ve built myself the reputation – I mightaswell live up to it.

Happy Maze Day everyone! And here’s a rather quick sketch to commemorate the event. Today, The Crystal Maze Experience opens to members of the public. The Crystal Maze is reborn. THAT’S NOT DANGEROUSLY EXCITING OR ANYTHING.

It’s been admitting tester teams for a couple of weeks; I’ve been snooping on social media (well, Twitter) for correspondence about the Maze and everything said seems to be hugely positive. Inexplicably, I’ve not been granted VIP access, so as yet I will not be visiting. We should totally put together a team of bloggers and go wipe the floor with its ‘fiendish’ puzzles – how hard can it be, right? So, who wants to come and watch me get locked in?

But how exciting, though. What a time to be alive.

Dear me, Lee, have I become so utterly predictable? 😉 No prizes for guessing correctly – of course I was going to get it in!

You deserve an automatic lock-in for the dreadful wordplay!

  2. What? You’re like the number one fan! What do you mean you haven’t been granted VIP access yet??? And I still have yet to watch and truly understand this show, though I imagine being across the pond would preclude me from signing up for team anyway. But that idea sounds awesome!! And love this sketch!

Haha, oh if only you could come! Maybe you should plan a visit to the UK especially for the maze. 😉 Oh, you should definitely watch it – it’s incredible! Here’s a quick clip which I feel sums up the frustration for both viewer and contestant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43l2cXv8pY0

I love how Richard can’t hide his disdain after their dismal effort. Come on – we’d be so much better than these chaps… wouldn’t we? 😉

  3. Jacob, what an exciting portrait. There is so much to see. I love the textures detail in the coat and scarf. Outstanding!!!!

Thanks, Sharon – I felt Richard’s ‘unique’ garb deserved the extra attention! 😉

Oh, that would be such fun! But I’m afraid Richard HAS to be there… great job Jacob!

Thanks, Rebecca! Had to get it in somehow 😉 And quite – whenever I watch it, I get so jealous of the contestants running around with him!

  5. Gorgeous sketch, Jacob! Thanks for sharing! So mysterious. I know nothing about the show or event or … so, sorry I can’t comment more.

  6. Charlie’s comment made me laugh so I second what he said! What a great expression on that guy’s face!

  8. Hey Jacob, fantastic….are you, or have you seen the one show tonight? Just sat waiting to see the dome….and they might reel off some more around the country, yeah. I’m up for a WP team, as an original fan…but I don’t think I can beat your fan status, I think you should get in for free!! Great sketch too as always. Bec

Hey, thanks so much for the note! I did hear about it being featured on there tonight and am going to watch on the iPlayer thingy a little later on. Exciting!

Regarding the freebie, I can’t help but agree 😉

      • Good old iplayer…the dome looks great, better than the old original CM attractions with push button crystals. We need to get you into this dome for free! ( unless you get locked in)!

Just seen the show, first time I’ve seen the dome in action! Great fun (though the tokens seem awfully small!) and now I desperately want to go. I need to start making some cash, or ask Santa for an early gift.

I would say fingers crossed for one a bit closer to Norfolk, but I suppose with London catered for, any new ones will probably be more northern, at least to begin with.

      • Yes I bet it will be north, and probably not built for a long time yet. Santa does occasionally deliver early I believe, so could be worth seeing how he feels about such a cool gift 😀

  9. Happy Maze day to you too Jacob, I’d be rubbish at it (like that guy in the clip you posted who couldn’t work out how to put those rods in the right holes, boy he was useless!) but I’d love to have a go, count me in!

Phil, there is no way you’d be any worse than me 😛 and it has to happen! It’d all be part of the fun; we could be record-breakers, who cares if it’s for all the wrong reasons!? 😀
